For his Masters degree project Dougie will explore why young people, particularly young men, with severe allergy disease appear not to carry life-saving adrenalin injector pens.
The problem has been highlighted by Professor Sara Marshall, Professor of Clinical Immunology and Honorary Consultant Immunologist at the Centre for Oncology and Molecular Medicine at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Dougie will work with Prof. Marshall and her team to explore solutions to this potentially life threatening issue.
Dougie has a Bachelor of Design degree in jewellery design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. For his B.Des final year project he designed an innovative medical alert jewellery concept, providing solutions to issues reported by medical alert jewellery wearers and health professionals. This has led Dougie to develop his interest in design for health and well-being.
